The Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda Tuesday said that the opening of a College of Dairy Sciences and Technology from next academic session will give boost to the efforts being made by the Government to meet the requirement of skilled manpower trained in dairy technology in the State.
Addressing the National Convention on role of veterinary in quality assurance of livestock products and international trade and XII convocation of National Academy of Veterinary Sciences at lala lajpat Rai University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Hisar, Hooda said the Indian Dairy Industry would need 6,38,530 diploma holders and 29,920 graduates in dairy technology to enhance milk processing by organised sector to 30 per cent by 2020.
He expressed serious concern over static growth in agriculture sector and said that it is becoming increasingly difficult to sustain agriculture production at the earlier pace due to decline in cultivable land holdings. Stressing the need of widening the scope of milk processing and marketing, the Chief Minister said that this would provide better remuneration to the milk producers.
