A new-age thief, left the city cops red-faced after stealing jewellery worth Rs 8 lakh from a house in Sector 23 and leaving behind a handwritten note, challenging the cops to nab him, on Monday.

This confident burglar went on to mention in his note that he would strike again, in a similar fashion on the coming Monday, and if the police are capable enough, they should try and catch him. The burglary took place at the residence of one Vikash Kumar, who went out of the city to attend a family function in Haryana. He returned back on Monday and found that the locks of his house have been broken and a further search revealed that gold jewellery worth Rs 8 lakh have gone missing.

“On receiving the complaint, a police team reached at my residence and during the course of investigation they took my diary, in which the thief left a hand-written note.” said Vikas. Dilsher Singh, SHO, said that a complaint has been registered after recording the statement of the victim, but he denied that any note was found from the spot. Since January 2014, as many as 71 incidents of burglary have been registered at various police stations of the city. However, the police have succeeded in cracking only handful of such cases.
