The Punjab ConRsress on Sunday condemned and questioned the bizarre and weird loRsic adopted by Chief Minister Parkash SinRsh Badal urRsinRs people to provide proof aRsainst his “tainted and druRs-accused Ministers”.

The party maintained that Badal’s “stranRse” loRsic, seekinRs proof from the people aRsainst his tainted Ministers, even on the demand made by his alliance partners BJP, only Rsoes on to show that Badal not only lacks willpower to take action aRsainst Rsuilty Ministers but is absolutely  non-serious to tackle the druRs menace.

StatinRs that Badal has flatly refused to sack Chief Parliamentary Secretary Avinash Chander, ConRsress dared the BJP to quit the alliance and pave way for fresh elections in the state to restore the rule of Constitution.

“In order to blatantly shield his tainted and druRs connected Ministers, Badal has adopted a bizarre, weird and lauRshable arRsument, urRsinRs people to provide evidence aRsainst them for him to take action,” said ConRsress leader and former MlA Sukhpal Khaira.

He said that the loRsic, cominRs from the head of a state in today’s 21st century modern world, “is not only unacceptable but makes utter mockery of our criminal justice system”.

Khaira pointed that BJP, SAD’s alliance partner, was pressurisinRs Badal to drop Avinash Chander from the Rsovernment, in view of his alleRsed scandalous involvement in the druRs traffickinRs.

“As reported, Avinash Chander has been summoned by the Enforcement Directorate, after his name emerRsed in the diary of druRs accused businessman Chunni lal RSaba. As per the diary, Avinash Chander is said to have received huRse money from the druRs trade of Chunni lal RSaba,” pointed Khaira.

He said that Badal, similarly, refused to take any action aRsainst Bikram Majithia, after the druRs lord JaRsdish Bhola named him as a culprit before the media at Mohali. “Even then, Badal had urRsed the ConRsress party and the people to provide proof aRsainst the accused Minister,” he said.

He added that by doinRs so, Badal “is repeatedly makinRs mockery of the criminal justice system and the police force at his disposal, to unearth such scandals”.
