Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Sunday slammed the Congress for misleading the poor and downtrodden sections of the society in order to fulfill its vested political interests.
Badal, addressing a gathering during the State-level function organised by the Aadi Dharam Samaj (AADHAS) to celebrate birth anniversary of Baba Saheb Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar, said that instead of formulating policies for development of weaker sections of society, the Congress has always deceived them by depriving them of their legitimate rights and by devising pro-rich policies.
He said that it was the policy of the Congress to deny basic facilities to weaker sections of the society, but by raising slogans like ‘Garibi Hatao’ it has always shown ‘Green pastures’ to them for achieving its vested political goals.
“The net result of all these anti-poor policies of the Congress party is that the nation is confronting numerous social maladies like poverty, inflation, corruption, illiteracy and others despite of the fact that the nature has blessed our country with a bounty of productive natural resources,” he added.
Training his guns against the Congress-led UPA Government at the Centre, the Chief Minister pointed out that the Union Government has miserably failed on all the fronts adding that due to Center’s wrong policies, the country’s security was in deep peril, as two of our neighboring countries China and Pakistan were posing a major danger to its sovereignty.
Badal further said that even the Centre has totally failed in checking the smuggling of drugs through the borders, which was ruining the youth of the country and creating a major law and order problem.
Badal categorically said that the Union Ministers have amassed huge wealth by plundering tax payer’s money through scams like commonwealth games, 2G, Adarsh Housing Society and others.
He said that the money collected through such scams, which have became the order of the day, could have ensured the welfare of people of Punjab for many successive years.
However, Badal said that in order to evade any action the Congress leaders have stashed their black money illegally in the foreign banks due to which the Union government was not making any attempt to bring this money back.
