leader of Opposition and former Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal on Wednesday came down heavily on Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh, alleging the former as kingpin of under investigation phone tapping case.
“When the matter is still being probed by Vigilance Bureau, then how can Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh take my name and say that I am the kingpin of alleged phone tapping case. He is acting as investigator, prosecutor and judge, all by himself,” said Dhumal after the disrupted first day of monsoon session of Himachal Pradesh assembly.
“Those guilty should be punished as per law instead of starting a blame game,” said infuriated Dhumal reacting to Virbhadra Singh’s statement terming him as persecutor.
“Can anyone tell me how and on whose orders, the hard disks from Vigilance and CID technical wings were seized a day before Virbhadra Singh was sworn in as Chief Minister. I was Chief Minister at that time,” said Dhumal.
“It was during his Government that his phone conversations were tapped in 1989 and in 2007 the case was sent for vigilance. Had I been using the case for political vendetta then I would have used it during 2009 general elections at Mandi from where Virbhadra Singh was contesting, as Forensic Science laboratory (FSl) had confirmed his voice samples in 2008 itself,” added Dhumal.
The leader of Opposition threatened that if Congress Government still goes ahead with vendetta politics, then it should also be ready for repercussions. On being asked about disruption of house, Dhumal said that BJP had no intention of disrupting the house but Government should have heeded to the demand of Opposition.
“Every MlA is an elected representative of his or her constituency and they have accountability towards the people who recently faced the wrath of incessant rains across the state. We need to raise the issues in the house about each constituency instead of just litening to the State Government version. For the reason BJP MlAs were demanding debate in the house,” said Dhumal.
“Both Government and Opposition are for people’s service but one can’t undermine the other. Running of the house is State Government’s job and not of Opposition but when the demands are reasonable, it should be accepted,” added Dhumal.
