CM flayed for remark on poor flood relief steps

Former Punjab Chief Minister and permanent invitee to the Congress Working Committee Capt Amarinder Singh on Friday lashed out at Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal for attributing his failure to provide relief to the flood-hit farmers in the State to the Centre.

Amarinder, in a statement, said the Centre had nothing to do with such issues and it was the State Government which had to take the final call. “The standard practice is that the State Government does a special girdawri about the damage and then sanction relief to the farmers,” he added.

“In fact, Badal has been doing the same in the past and I am surprised what makes him to blame the Centre nowIJ” he asked, while advising the CM to stop putting each and every blame on the Centre when everybody knew providing relief to farmers was the State’s responsibility.

Captain said Badal’s condition was understandable as the State had no money even to pay the salaries to its employees so where would it get money from for paying relief to the farmers. “Instead of admitting to the fact that he has squandered all the money and has nothing to pay to the farmers, Badal is trying to wrongly pass on the blame on the Centre which is ridiculous as nobody is going to buy his argument”, Amarinder remarked while asking, “if everything has to be done by the centre then what for is the Chief Minister there, he better quit”.
