Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Tuesday announced that the State Government would construct a college in the memory of Sikh religious leader Baba Daya Singh. The Chief Minister, along with his deputy son Sukhbir Badal, was here to attend the last rites of the religious leader, who passed away recently.

Chief Minister said that the State Government would bear the entire cost of the construction of this college, and announced `25 lakh grant for an under-construction stadium at Sursingh.

Baba Daya Singh was the 11th successor of religious leader Baba Bidhi Chand — a Sikh warrior who was the disciple of fifth Sikh master, Guru Arjan Dev, and served sixth master, Guru Hargobind, for most of his life.

“The upcoming college would be a befitting tribute to this great religious leader, who rendered selfless service to the masses,” Badal added.
