Haryana Chief Minister Manohar lal on Thursday announced a slew of incentives for the people of Sirsa’s Kalanwali Assembly constituency, including the status of sub-division for Kalanwali, and development works worth `150 crore for Kalanwali, Rohri and the rural areas.

Besides, Sirsa bypass would be constructed at a cost of `450 crore, for which approval has been given by the Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari. A medical college would  be set up in Jind district.

Making these announcements while speaking at a public meeting at Kalanwali in Sirsa, Manohar lal said that though local MlA did not belong to the BJP, the present Government had given importance to Kalanwali in terms of development, equal to the other 89 Assembly constituencies.

During its 22-month tenure, the present Government has executed development works worth `56 crore in the Kalanwali Assembly constituency. Of these, projects to the tune of `24 crore were inaugurated and foundation stones of others worth `16 crore had been laid on Thursday, said he.

lashing out at the opposition, the Chief Minister said leaders of other parties are in the habit of criticising the Government on every matter. Since they have nothing to criticise nowadays, they have become unemployed. So much so, these  leaders had even criticised the warm welcome accorded by the State Government to the Olympic medal-winner Sakshi Malik. It is duty of the State Government to recognise talent and women of the state would be accorded status equal to men, he added.

Describing the 10-year tenure of the Government led by the former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, as a dark period in the field of education, the Chief Minister said the quality of education declined during this period and even students who failed were allowed to pass Classes VIII and IX. “We have brought reforms in the education policy and fixed responsibility of teachers by initiating the system of monthly tests,” he added.

The Government has got 12 national highways approved and road network is being so laid in the State as to ensure that it would not take more than three hours to travel from one part of the State to another, said he.

Manohar lal promised to revive the cotton industry in Sirsa region and said that a new textile policy was being formulated.
