ClP chief asks CM to explain stand on inter-state issues

Published on:

Kiran Choudhry, leader of Haryana Congress legislature Party on Friday slammed the BJP led Haryana Government on the sensitive issue of capital Chandigarh and inter-State waters, and asked CM Khattar to explain things after the stand taken by Punjab Government where the BJP shares power, was echoed by the Governor Solanki in the State Assembly on Thursday.

Solanki’s address in Punjab Assembly sought the transfer of Chandigarh and Punjabi-speaking areas to Punjab and due share of the State in inter-State waters under the Riparian principle.  Interestingly, through his address to the Budget session of Haryana Assembly on Monday, the State Government had said that it is committed to ensure that Haryana gets its due share of water from all inter-State river agreements.

Choudhry said, “The BJP is having double standards on the issue of transfer of Chandigarh and Punjabi-speaking areas, and share in the inter-State rivers. Given the demand of Punjab Government echoed by Governor, Khattar must clarify the stand of his Government.”
