Clear the air on alliance for polls: HJC tells BJP

With uncertainty prevailing over the future of Bharatiya Janta Party — Haryana Janhit Congress (Bl) alliance in Haryana, the HJC on Sunday asked its ally BJP to clear the air on their alliance for upcoming Assembly polls in the State.

Miffed over the approach of its alliance partner, HJC president Kuldeep Bishnoi through an open letter to BJP national president Amit Shah asked the BJP to clear the air on alliance for ensuing State Assembly polls which are due in the month of October this year.“Kindly advise me on the logistics of our meetings to discuss the above so that the alliance can move forward. In case you have already taken any unilateral decision regarding our alliance, you may convey the same to us at the earliest”, said Kuldeep Bishnoi, president of HJC.

The development took place after Shah’s recent statement on Haryana during his elevation as party president in Delhi on Saturday, where he had said, “There is a need to change the Government in the State. We should see that the BJP alone gets the majority,” adding any possibility of alliance would be seen later.”Bishnoi in his letter with the reference of its previous pre-poll agreement for lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha elections in the State between BJP-HJC said “the said understanding in the form of agreement was crystal clear”.

“Accordingly, we proceeded to abide by the terms and conditions of the said alliance in true letter and spirit. As a leader of the alliance, I ensured that my party compiled with the ethics and morality connected with this sacred alliance”, added Bishnoi. The letter has also been forwarded to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other senior party leaders. In his letter, HJC president said that the recent victory of BJP in the lok Sabha elections in Haryana was due to HJC’s hard work. ‘The hard work put in by me and my cadre led to the alliance winning seven out of ten lok Sabha seats in Haryana…the credit of this admirable result goes to the joint efforts put in by HJC and BJP”, said Bishnoi.

“It would be highly misconceived if BJP was to take the sole credit for the same as that is far from reality”, added Bishnoi. He also said that the statements of BJP State leadership has hurt him a lot. “I am pained and dismayed to share with you that in the past few months, predominantly after the lok Sabha elections of 2014, we have noticed drastic change in the approach of BJP State leadership towards our alliance”, alleged Bishnoi.

He added that “BJP State leaders and the BJP in-charge of Haryana have been openly and publicly airing their views regarding altering the terms and conditions of the alliance agreement, which is wholly irreconcilable and highly opportunistic”.The State president of BJP is indulging in absolutely unwarranted and uncalled for petty, rash and unwise statements against me personally as well as my party with an objective to tarnish my image without realising that it will seriously damage the prospects of our alliance and that of BJP in particular”, added Bishnoi.

“Any further delay in specific Assembly seats allocation will be self destructive and will unnecessarily benefit our opponents”, said Bishnoi. He also informed BJP chief that people and groups who desire to alter or break the alliance can’t be well wishers of BJP or HJC, their ulterior designs and motives are questionable. I see deep rooted conspiracy to ensure that HJC and HJP do not come to power”.In the end, Bishnoi has also ruled out any possibility for renegotiating the original terms and condition of the alliance.

“I may also elucidate yet again that on innumerable occasions, I have conveyed to the state as well as some of the central leaders of BJP that HJC is not open to renegotiating the original terms and conditions of the alliance agreement, we would request BJP also to reverently abide by the terms of the alliance agreement, which contains the voice of the people of Haryana”.
