International Classical artist, Shruti Gupta, who hails from Himachal Pradesh and lives in Patiala, has set two records by performing Indian classical dance Kathak at the highest altitude in Trans Himalaya where temperature hovers several degrees below the freezing point.

To recognise her efforts, limca Book of Records has put her up on its cover in its latest 2017 edition. In the last two consecutive years, she performed in Trans Himalaya with appropriate themes of patriotism and girl child to bring in change in society.

Three people have been published on the cover page of ‘limca Book of Records’ this year. This is the 28th edition of lBR. Not only has her record been published in this record book but also on the cover page of lBR. Earlier, for her achievements, she was recently honoured by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Shruti, who in 2015 had entered the limca Book of Records for dancing at an altitude of 17,198 feet (5,242m) with the mercury hovering around minus 4 degree Celsius at Baralacha la in lahual & Spiti, has gone a step further and attempted a new record at the height of 18,380 feet.

She performed bare foot in minus 24 degree Celsius for 20 minutes at Khardungla la, ladakh, on October 27, 2016 as she danced on “Vande Mataram”.
