Amid a political furore over the Haryana Government’s three-day Himachal sojourn from December 15 to 17, Chief Minister Manohar lal on Wednesday claimed that the ‘chintan shivir’ is planned to prepare a blueprint of a ‘new Haryana’ through deliberations on issues of development.
“A special session is being organized at Timber Trail in Himachal Pradesh where discussions would be held on development works and schemes in Haryana,” said the Chief Minister while talking to the mediapersons in Bhiwani on Wednesday.
Responding to the allegations of opposition that the three-day ‘chintan shivir’ is planned for sightseeing and relaxation, Manohar lal said that brainstorming sessions are organised by the government and the BJP from time to time to come up with new ideas to expedite development of the state.
Throwing its austerity measures to the wind, the BJP led Haryana has planned its chintan shivir at the luxury private resort Timber Trail, where the Ministers, MlAs and bureaucrats will be staying for three days.
When asked about some senior officers of the State Government expressing their inability to attend the ‘chintan shivir’ and wanting to be excused, Manohar lal said that some officers had already made plans with their families and some had other urgent work to do. Therefore, they have been given relaxation, said he.
On opposition’s criticism over his recent foreign visit to Dubai, the Chief Minister said that the government is quite serious about development and bringing investment to the state and he had addressed two sessions and 13 meetings for the purpose during the 48-hour visit to Dubai.
He also said out of the about 3,700 announcements made by him, as many as 2,750 announcements had either been executed or were under process, and work on the remaining announcements was being taken up.
“I visited the entire state in three phases to ensure all-round development. In the first phase, meetings were held at the district headquarters in 2014. Thereafter, public meetings were held at the assembly segment level in the second phase where numerous development schemes and projects were announced. Now, I am redressing the grievances of people by organising Janta Darbars during my two-day visit to every district in the state”, the Chief Minister said.
At the same time, interaction is also being held with office-bearers of the party, public representatives, members of the monitoring committees and media persons, said he.
Manohar lal said, “I have covered 21 districts so far and similar programmes would be organized in Kurukshetra in the last week of this month.”
In reply to a question, Manohar lal said that process for setting up a medical college in Bhiwani had begun and a detailed project report is being prepared.
When asked about the Uklana rape and murder incident, the Chief Minister condemned it and said that the guilty should be given harsh punishment. The matter is being investigated thoroughly and efforts are being made to arrest the accused.
A special inspection team had been constituted to nab the culprits involved in the rape and killing of a six-year-old girl, he added
Earlier, the Chief Minister held a meeting with office-bearers of the BJP, public representatives, members of monitoring committees and party workers in Bhiwani.
