Amid the escalation of tussle between two Cabinet Ministers, Anil Vij and Capt. Abhimanyu over Sonepat-based Moti lal Nehru School of Sports (MNSS), the Haryana Government has asked State Chief Secretary DS Dhesi to inquire into the entire matter related to the school.

The State Government had earlier asked senior IAS officer Ashok Khemka to probe into the matter, however, official orders in this regard were not issued.

The Government has now asked the Chief Secretary to begin inquiry into the issue, said sources. Haryana Sports Minister Anil Vij had written to the Chief Minister, Manohar lal, seeking his intervention into the issue of sports school and a high-level inquiry from a senior IAS officer.

Vij and Finance Minister Capt. Abhimanyu are engaged in a tussle since the special audit team of Finance Department took away records of the sports schools during the audit procedure being conducted in the premises.

The Sports Minister had ordered that an FIR should be registered against Finance Department officials for taking away audit documents from the institute. Director of the school and senior IPS officer, Bharti Arora, had also written to the Sonepat SP, seeking registration of FIR against audit officials.

Vij had also asked that the interference of concerned ministry (Finance) should be stopped immediately into the issue of Sports school, Rai.

Notably, the audit of the school from the period of April 1, 2015, and January 1, 2017 has pointed towards alleged fraudulent payments, embezzlement and misappropriation of Government funds. However, the school administration, in a communication sent to the State Government on the audit findings, has alleged that incorrect and distorted facts have been published by the Finance Department. The school administration has also accused the Finance Department of leaking the report in media to tarnish the image of sports school.

Speaking on the issue, the Chief Minister had last week said action would be taken against whoever is found guilty in the case of sports school, Rai.

The Chief Minister is currently on a five-day tour to Singapore and Hong Kong and is scheduled to return on May 25.

The Congress had recently demanded a CBI inquiry into the working of Motilal Nehru School of Sports. Jaiveer Dahiya, Congress MlA from Rai had said that a CBI inquiry should be conducted into this to bring forth the truth.
