Haryana Chief Minister Manohar lal on Wednesday asked the Opposition to shun the practice of distorting the facts in their statements so that the people of the State are not mislead.
Taking a strong objection to the statement of former Speaker and Congress MlA Kuldeep Sharma on Dera violence in Panchkula last year, the Chief Minister told him not to distort the facts in the House.
Speaking during the discussion on Governor’s address, Congress MlA Kuldeep Sharma had alleged absence of Chief Minister at Panchkula on August 25 during Sirsa Dera Sacha Sauda supporters violence in August last year.
Reacting sharply to his statement, the Chief Minister apprised the House that his two-hour official attendance on that day from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm was recorded in Panchkula. On that day, he also visited civil hospital and other places and held meetings with the officials.
On the law and order front, Kuldeep Sharma alleged that incidents of loot, rapes and dacoity have increased in the State. “Everyone saw how Panchkula burned in August last year as administration allowed thousands of people to gather there. This Government only preaches 'Haryana Ek Haryanvi Ek', but in reality the state's brotherhood was spoiled because of the policies they are pursuing,” Sharma alleged.
More than 40 people had died in Panchkula due to police firing. During BJP’s tenure, more people have died in police firing in Haryana than in Jammu & Kashmir in last three years, added the Congress MlA.
He also mentioned the mishandling of Jat agitation in 2016 by the State Government. Sharma also took a dig at the State Government over its ‘Mhara Gaon-Jagmag Gaon’ scheme, claiming that villages are not getting power for more than eight hours as against promised round-the-clock supply. He also claimed that the government is making hollow claims on having reined in corruption.
Earlier, Kuldeep Sharma and Agriculture Minister OP Dhankar had heated exchange on the farmers’ issues.Sharma wondered that how the BJP Government which had not implemented its poll promise of implementing the Swaminathan Commission report for farmers was going to double the income of the peasants by 2022.On this, Dhankar hit back, saying Congress is “anti-farmer party”.
Senior Congress leader Karan Singh Dalal, MlA from Palwal also took part in the debate on the Governor's address and sought setting up of a Tribunal to decide the share of water between Haryana and Uttar Pradesh from the Agra canal. He also expressed concern over water table going down at alarming level in Faridabad and Palwal and asked the State Government to take the required steps in this regard.
Dalal also claimed that the water table had fallen to alarming levels in 37 blocks across Haryana and suggested that Government should encourage more and more farmers to opt for crop diversification and help them come out of water-guzzling wheat-paddy crop cycle.
Taking part in the discussion, Bahujan Samaj Party’s lone MlA, Tek Chand Sharma, heaped praise on the BJP led Haryana Government. He said that the Government has put an end to corruption and favouritism.
