Chandumajra as Mohali's halqa in-charge

Shiromani Akali Dal has appointed senior leader and Anandpur Sahib MP Prem Singh Chandumajra as halqa in-charge of Mohali assembly constituency, for the time being.

The constituency was till now represented by former Union Minister and senior Akali leader Balwant Singh Ramoowalia, who had fought 2012 Vidhan Sabha elections from the constituency.

Ramoowalia, who has recently resigned from the SAD, had joined Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh to be inducted as cabinet minister in Akhilesh Yadav-led State Government.

Sources said that in the absence of any head of Mohali constituency after Ramoowalia’s resignation and with assembly polls round the corner, the SAD has given a go-ahead to the appointment of Chandumajra as halqa in-charge to oversee party's interest in the constituency.

It has been learnt that Chandumajra’s appointment was a temporary arrangement as the party is yet to finalise the candidate for the next assembly elections who would be finally made in-charge of the constituency.
