To maintain or monitor the records of existing allottees or transferees and their dependent family members in database under its various housing schemes, the Chandigarh Housing Board has sought the Unique Identification (UID) or Aadhaar numbers from its thousands of allottees.
The Board officials said that to maintain the record of its allottees or transferees, “we have decided to collect UID or Aadhaar Numbers, e-mail of all its allottees, whether under rehabilitation schemes or under general housing schemes in the prescribed proforma available with the various Registered Welfare Association and e-Sampark centres”.
There are more than 48,000 families residing in various categories of Chandigarh Housing Board dwelling units including flats or houses in Chandigarh.
It has been learnt that the CHB does not have record of several of its allottees for the last so many years. And that was the reason why they started this exercise for maintaining the record. However, for the last couple of years, Board has already made mandatory to all those allotees in these years to submit the said documents along with other requirements.
The allottees have been asked to submit their UID or Aadhaar numbers either to the Registered Welfare Association of their area or through e-sampark center, so that same be deposited by the Associations to this office within one month positively.
