Chahal's acquittal exposes nexus between Capt and Badals: Khaira

Alleging a nexus between Congress and Shiromani Akali Dal in Punjab, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Sukhpal Khaira on Thursday said that the acquittal of Bharat Inder Singh Chahal, the right hand man of Captain Amarinder Singh, by a Patiala Court has exposed the hidden understanding between Punjab Congress Chief and Badal family.

Terming the acquittal of Chahal in a case under Prevention of Corruption Act as a state sponsored acquittal, Khaira said that the investigating officer and the complainant Shiv Kumar, SP Vigilance Bureau Patiala, wilfully failed to make a statement against the accused in the court and it became the reason of Chahal’s acquittal.

Addressing a press conference here, Khaira alleged that the officer did not pursue the complaint in the court on the directions of Home Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal. “Instead of pursuing the case against the accused, VB moved an application in the court to close the prosecution. More than 77 witnesses out of total of 109 witnesses who are senior government officials either failed to turn up for evidence or resiled and turned hostile purposely deflating the case” added Khaira.

Exhorting the electorate of Khadoor Sahib to express their contempt by pressing NOTA (None of the above) on the day of poll in the byelection, AAP leader Khaira said that people have got an opportunity to show their annoyance against the incidents of desecration of Guru Granth Sahib.
