Chandigarh police has arrested three people for illegal possession of liquor in the city.
A spokesperson of UT Police said, “A case under Section 61/1/14 Excise Act has been registered in Police Station (PS)-Industrial Area here on the complaint of ASI Ram Babu, Traffic Staff against Nikhil Malik, a resident of Chandigarh who was arrested at drunken driving traffic naka near OCF Factory, Ph-1, Ind. Area while he was illegally possessing 98 quarters of country made liquor carried on Activa.” He was later released on bail and investigation of the case is in progress, the spokesman said.
In another case, an FIR under Section 61/1/14 Excise Act has been registered in PS-31 on the complaint of SI Pawan Kumar, Traffic Staff against Sandeep Kumar, resident of village-Sabhuwal in Nawanshahr (Punjab) who was arrested at drunken driving traffic naka at road near Gurudwara Sahib, Sector 47 while he was illegally possessing 16 boxes of country made liquor carried in Zen car.
