In order to give relief to the farmers affected by heavy rain and hailstorm in Haryana, the Centre has reduced value cut for shrivelled and broken wheat grains to relax procurement norms further.

On the requests received from Haryana Government and other States, the Union Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution has decided not to impose much value cut in respect of more shrivelled and broken grains, stated a Press statement issued by the Centre on Monday.

In order to help the farmers in Haryana, it has been decided that the value cut in respect of shrivelled and broken grains will be allowed at 1/4th of one value cut for every additional relaxation of 2 per cent or part thereof. As such, Rs3.63 per quintal (MSP-Rs1450/-per quintal) will be deducted on wheat having shriveled & broken grains above 6 per cent upto 8 per cent and in case of wheat having shriveled and broken grains above 8 per cent upto 10 per cent, value cut of Rs7.25 per quintal will be deducted.

The value cut in respect of luster-lost grains will remain the same as specified in the order dated April 8, 2015 i.e. 1/4th of one value cut on flat basis or say Rs3.63 per quintal  above 10 per cent and upto 50 per cent. The value cut will be applicable from the date of relaxation allowed. All other conditions will remain same, stated the statement.
