Centre on Wednesday approved major road projects in Haryana including a six-lane flyover along the National Highway No. 8 at Hero Honda Chowk on Delhi-Jaipur road, construction work of flyover at Bahalgarh Chowk and widening of bridge near village Rasoi and enhancement in budget allocation under the head ‘National Highway ’ from Rs 44-110 crore.

Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said that the decisions were taken in his meeting with Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Oscar Fernandes in New Delhi

Hooda said that a six-lane flyover would be constructed along the National Highway No. 8 at Hero Honda Chowk on Delhi-Jaipur road. This will cost about Rs 100 crore and would be  completed within 15 months. On NH-1 that is Delhi-Panipat-Ambala, Fernandes said that the construction work of flyover at Bahalgarh Chowk and widening of bridge near village Rasoi would be awarded to the contractor before December 31.

Fernandes also approved the proposal to construct a highway from Jhajjar in Haryana to Dwarka in Delhi via Dhansa border on Najafgarh drain at a cost of  about Rs 100 crore, under Central Road Fund. Mr Hooda said that he explained to Mr Fernandes that there are three main highways connecting Haryana with the adjoining States that is  Delhi-Ambala- Punjab, Delhi-Gurgaon-Jaipur and Delhi-Faridabad-Agra, which carry  very heavy traffic.

It was also explained that all the three projects of National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) are almost at standstill, due to which highway users are suffering badly. Fernandes directed the NHAI officers to improve the maintenance level of roads immediately, apart from completing the projects on time.
