Third eye is keeping a vigil at the entry points of the Nurmahal-based Divya Jyoti Jagriti Sansthan (DJJS) ashram.
leaving nothing to chance, the Jalandhar district administration has installed close circuit television cameras, giving live footage, at strategic locations to zoom in on any possibility of trouble at the aashram.Focusing its attention on prevention, the district administration has also hired photographers to have an idea of the regular visitors. Besides, the security around the aashram has also been tightened.
Even as the DJJS authorities have given restricted access to the ashram, barring media from entering its premises, the district administration has made an attempt to constantly monitor the activity at the venue.Sources informed The Pioneer that the district authorities have also ensured deployment of sufficient police force, including those in civil uniforms, who can act when the need arise. Also, the photographers were also capturing the activity, along with giving an idea of the frequent visitors to the aashram.
The development is significant as the 15-day deadline set by the Punjab and Haryana High Court for the five-member committee to cremate DJJS head Ashutosh Maharaj is nearing — December 17.Ashutosh Maharaj was declared “clinically dead” on January 29, and since then his body has been kept in freezer by his followers at Nurmahal aashram saying that their “guru” is in samadhi (deep meditation).
At the same time, the DJJS has also made clear its plans of going ahead with its “regular” grand congregation on December 14 — just about three days before the deadline expires — expecting a gathering of around 70,000 people.“We are ensuring the no mischievous or anti-social element managed to get in and cause any trouble. We have in-house mechanism of sewadaars,” said DJJS spokesperson Swami Vishalananda.
The move comes at a time when the telephonic support against the High Court’s December 1 decision, to cremate Ashutosh Maharaj, is gaining momentum. In fact, the DJJS claimed that the missed call campaign in support of letting Ashutosh Maharaj continuing his samadhi has touched 20 lakh-mark.
