A.B. Agrawal, Chairman, Bhakra Beas Management Board, inaugurated the Interactive Workshop on Operation and Maintenance (O&M) and Renovation, Modernisation, Uprating and life Extension (RMU & lE) of Hydro Power Plants, organised by CBIP at New Delhi.
He stated that for good plant availability best O&M practices are to be adopted adding the reason that it is difficult to add new hydro capacity, capacity additions by way of R,M&U and life Extension is the option. He also stated that BBMB is pioneer in uprating of Hydro plants.
BBMB share in uprating is 311 MW which is 61 per cent of India’s uprating total of 513 MW. At Bhakra Right Power Plant, BBMB has already been uprated the units by 31 per cent, which is the highest in India.
At Bhakra left, the second phase of uprating of 20 per cent is under process and thus this will become the first power house in the world to add 40 per cent in capacity through uprating.
