Rejecting Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal’s clean chit to his brother-in-law Bikram Majithia in multi-crore drug racket, Punjab Congress president Partap Singh Bajwa on Thursday said that he himself could not be the investigator, prosecutor and the judge combined into one.
He reiterated that the party’s stand that investigation in this case should be handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation, “now headed by their own Government”.“Deputy Chief Minister acquitted his brother-in-law of all allegations saying that it was a media hype while the fact of the matter is that his name to the racket had been linked by cop-turned-smuggler Jagdish Bhola presently under detention after which he was barred from talking to the media while being produced in the court,” said Bajwa.
PPCC chief said that it was strange that former tourism minister Sarwan Singh Phillaur had to submit his resignation as the name of his son Damanvir Singh cropped up in the state case although nothing had been established so far against him as the investigation had been going on.“No investigation has been done by any agency against Majithia and this precisely is the reason that I have been demanding probe by the CBI in this multi-crore case,”pointed Bajwa.
