A complaint has been filed against Bollywood singer Sonu Nigam before CJM Panipat, Haryana, over his remarks about morning 'Azaan'.
The complaint was under sections 294, 295, 295A, 296, 500, 501 of IPC against the singer who has attracted criticism for his remarks on mosques using loudspeakers for their morning call to prayers.
On Monday, Nigam blew up a controversy when he lashed out at "forced religiousness" in India after being woken up by the 'Azaan' from a mosque near his home.
In a series of tweets on Monday, the 43-year-old had described as hooliganism the use of loudspeakers for broadcasting sermons and calls to prayers. "Gundagardi hai bus (it is hooliganism)," he had posted on Twitter.
After his comments stirred up a controversy, Nigam on Wednesday offered to apologise if his controversial tweets were found to be 'anti-Muslim'.
