Carry girdawari to assess crop loss: Haryana CM

Published on:

Following rains accompanied with hailstorm lashed parts of Haryana in past 24 hours, Chief Minister Manohar lal on Thursday announced special girdawari (crop loss assessment) in the areas where the crops had not been insured under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojna.

“The girdawari would be carried out to assess the crop loss due to the recent unseasonal rains in different parts of the state. The farmers who have insured their crops under the PMFBY would have to inform the insurance agencies through officials concerned about the loss within 48 hours,” said the Chief Minister while interacting with mediapersons shortly after inaugurating the two-day conference “Pratyaksh Kar Samagam” organized by the Income Tax Department of North-West Region at Panchkula, near here.

He also congratulated all office-bearers and workers of the BJP which is celebrating its 37th foundation day.

Responding to a question, the Chief Minister said that Haryana ranked the highest tax paying state in the North-West region comprising Haryana, Punjab, Chandigarh, Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh.

Out of the total Rs 35,000 crore revenue generation from income tax in 2016-17, Haryana alone contributed Rs 19,000 crore. A hike of 20 per cent is expected in 2017-18, said he.

In reply to another question, the Chief Minister said the Income Tax Department should come up with a scheme to honour the highest tax payers as mentioned in the budget speech of the Union Finance Minister, Arun Jaitley.

When asked to comment on the BPl survey, he said work on the survey would start in the next three months to ensure due benefit of different schemes to the eligible beneficiaries.
