On a thanksgiving spree, the newly-elected Amritsar MP Capt Amarinder Singh on Sunday put on record his gratitude towards everybody who participated in the election process, including the people of Amritsar, polling officials, police and the observers who had been deputed by the Election Commission for the smooth conduct of the elections.
“Without the participation of general public and cooperation and support of officials, the elections would not have been possible in a smooth and peaceful manner,” said Capt Amarinder. Only a day before, Capt Amarinder thanked his rivals — SAD-BJP candidate Arun Jaitley and Aam Aadmi Party’s Dr Daljit Singh.
The Maharaja of Patiala had special word of thanks for the returning officer besides Amritsar Deputy Commissioner and Police Commissioner as far as their role in conducting the elections in a free and fair manner was concerned.
Expressing his gratitude to the ex-servicemen, he said that the overwhelming love and affection provided to him by the ex-servicemen had contributed to a large extent towards his success. “It is actually the success of the people of Amritsar who had given me the honour to represent them in the highest legislature of the country,” he added.
