Shiromani Akali Dal on Wednesday accused Punjab Congress chief Capt Amarinder Singh of turning his party into a dumping ground for the losers and rejects of SAD-BJP.
“By admitting the likes of Sarwan Singh Phillaur, Inderbir Singh Bolaria, Pargat Singh, Dr Navjot Kaur Sidhu and Deepinder Singh Dhillon into the Congress fold, Amarinder has proved that in his blind quest for power, he is willing to compromise with even the devil himself,” said SAD secretary and party spokesperson Daljit Singh Cheema.
His lofty pronouncements and thundering challenges mean nothing when it comes to making compromises for the sake of power, said Cheema, who is also State Education Minister.
He said that after constantly targeting Phillaur for his alleged links with the drug mafia, Amarinder has had no qualms in taking him into the Congress fold despite strong opposition from within his own party.
“Amarinder has been accused of turning Congress into SAD’s pale copy by his own party leaders. He was about to admit another reject of the SAD, Avinash Chander also to the Congress party but for a sharp rap on the knuckles from the Congress high command. He was forced to publically declare on Twitter that Avinash Chander will not be taken into the Congress party,” he added.
