Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh on Wednesday congratulated the people of Punjab for successfully steering the State on the path to development and progress despite the 1966 bifurcation “which deprived it of several vital resources”.
“Though the State witnessed a setback, with the SAD-BJP Government of the past 10 years doing everything in its power to reverse its development, Punjab is once again at the cusp of exceptional growth under the people-friendly policies of the Congress Government,” he said in a statement.
The CM declared promises made to the people during the poll campaign will be fulfilled, despite the financial debt burden allegedly inherited by his government from the “corrupt SAD-BJP Government”.
“Instead of allowing the State to suffer regression in the wake of the Akali-led division, the people, with their inherent resilience and courage, worked hard to enable Punjab’s development over the years,” said the CM while lauding the contribution of every Punjabi in boosting productivity and growth, and thanking them for putting the state as a shining star on India’s map.
Notwithstanding the repeated efforts of the Akalis to push back the development agenda through its anti-people policies, Punjab continues to move aggressively forward on the path of progress,” he said.
