'Capt never demanded to be declared as CM candidate'

Congress’ State party affairs’ in-charge Asha Kumari on Friday said that the Punjab Congress president Capt Amarinder Singh never demanded that he should be declared as Chief ministerial candidate of Congress. “Rather he just advised the party high command on the issue,” he said.
“Declaring Chief Ministerial candidate in Punjab is purely prerogative of party’s president Sonia Gandhi,” said Kumari while interacting with media. “No, I don’t think Capt Amarinder Singh has ever demanded for the announcement to declare him the CM candidate, rather it was just an advice by him to party high command,” she clarified. Asked about the criteria of issuing Congress ticket, Kumari said that “winnability” would be the only criteria to issue ticket.
However, she ruled out any age limit of the candidate for issuing Congress ticket, which enthused the senior party leaders accompanying him. “Candidate’s age could be 30 or 90, winnability will be the only criteria,” she said when the media persons pointed out the Congress national vice president Rahul Gandhi’s view on the age limit of issuing the party tickets.
