Capt demands compensation for farmers hit by Ravi deluge

Congress Deputy leader in the lok Sabha and local MP Capt Amarinder Singh on Sunday demanded compensation for the farmers whose crops have been damaged due to the flash floods in river Ravi.

Expressing his sympathies to the affected farmers, he urged the Government to assess their losses and provide adequate compensation.

The former Chief Minister said that floods had become a regular feature and it was important to construct embankments on the river Ravi from Dharamkot to Saharan to prevent floods in future as that was the only permanent solution. Capt Amarinder said that he would also take up the matter with the Central Government so that the embankments are built at the earliest.
