Punjab Congress president Capt Amarinder Singh on Monday, while campaigning for his “sister” Rajinder Kaur Bhattal, reiterated his promise of throwing into jail all those, including the Badals and their relative Majithia, who are found guilty of ruining the state with drugs and mafia.
Capt Amarinder, in a hard-hitting speech at a public rally in lehra from where Bhattal is seeking re-election for the third consecutive time, asked the crowd, “Babe nu kuttan, ya na kuttanIJ” (should I thrash Badal or notIJ).
As the crowd cheered and making an emotional connect, Capt Amarinder declared that now that he had the permission of his ‘nanka’, he would have to beat Badal square and hard in lambi, which he had chosen to make his ‘karambhoomi’.
Pointing out that ‘chitta’ had killed thousands of Punjab’s children, and citing Maqboolpura in Amritsar as an example of the devastation wreaked by drugs leaving only widows and children in the entire village, Capt Amarinder asserted that all those responsible for the drug menace would be brought to book, with not even the Badals and Majithia being spared if found guilty.
“They will all be dealt within four weeks of the next Congress Government taking over the State,” he said.
Describing SAD as a “mafia party”, Capt Amarinder promised to take away all buses currently under Badals’ control and give them to the unemployed youth of the state.
Referring to the incidents of religious sacrilege in the State, Captain Amarinder promised to bring all those found guilty, including the Badals, to book.
Referring to large number of farmer suicides in Punjab’s southern region, the former chief minister said that the Badal government had failed to do anything for the farmers but his party was committed to waiving off their loans and rescuing them from the devastation into which they had been plunged by the current dispensation.
Earlier, Bhattal described Capt Amarinder as the “saviour of Punjab’s water” who had done a lot for the development of the area in contrast with the Badals who were busy looting the State and promoting their family interests. “I would request the next Chief Minister of the State to declare lehra a district to ensure its proper development,” she said.
