Capt Ajay takes back resignation

Senior Congress leader and former Minister Capt Ajay Yadav on Monday withdrew his decision to quit the party following a meeting with party vice-president Rahul Gandhi.

Earlier on July 29, Yadav had made an announcement to quit the Congress, citing continued humiliation in the party.

The six-time former MlA from Rewari, Capt Yadav had announced to quit the Congress on Twitter and Facebook, blaming All India Congress Committee general secretary in-charge of Haryana, Kamal Nath and former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda for his decision. He had sent his resignation to the party high command on Saturday.

Following his meeting with Rahul Gandhi, Yadav said he was satisfied after the meeting and would stay in the party. I would continue to work for the party, he told the media.

“During the meeting, I have been told not to go to media for internal issues of the party and raise it with Rahul Gandhi,” said Yadav.

When asked about his acrimonious relationship with former CM Hooda, he refused to comment.  Confirming the development, Haryana Congress chief Ashok Tanwar said that Yadav would work for the party as he has withdrawn his decision to quit.  Congress leader Yadav had on Friday tweeted, “Friends I gave my youth and life for the congress party and worked as true soldier of the party but my ego has been hurt I quit Congress.” Capt. Yadav was upset for being sidelined in the party and the immediate provocation to quit the party was the meeting convened by Kamal Nath in Delhi last week to bring truce among factions of Congress Haryana unit. He was first invited for the meeting but was later told to stay away from it.

Yadav, who served as Power and Environment Minister in previous Congress regime, had also resigned from the Council Of Ministers in 2014, criticising Hooda for focusing on Rohtak and ignoring other areas, but later withdrew the resignation following the intervention of Congress high command.
