Canada based gangster Goldy Brar claims Moosewala offered 2 crore for his life

Published on:

With the Punjab Police making out-and-out efforts to extradite him, the Canada-based gangster Goldy Brar on Friday released a video detailing the reasons that led to the broad daylight killing of Punjabi singer-rapper Sidhu Moosewala.

Satinderjit Singh, alias Goldy Brar, maintained that he was compelled to release the video after seeing the people equating Moosewala with the “Sikh martyrs", and coming out in his support in such large numbers. “Ninety-five per cent of the people calling him a martyr of the Sikh faith earlier used to hate and criticise him. What has happened now? He was not a hero of the Sikh panth or a Punjab yodha. He does not deserve that. You are disrespecting the real martyrs by making such a comparison,” said Brar.

Brar, in the video, claimed that they had rejected the Punjabi singer’s Rs two-crore “compromise offer” following the Vicky Middukhera killing. “He had been begging for mercy through mediators after the Middukhera murder. He also offered us to pay Rs two crore for his life through some youths of Muktsar but we rejected it,” he said.

Speaking with his face covered sitting in dim light to hide his identity, Brar released the video to a news channel. Both Punjab Police and Delhi Police have authenticated the video to be genuine and that of Goldy Brar’s.

The video was released a day after Punjab police chief Gaurav Yadav visited Moosewala’s place on Wednesday. He expressed condolences to his parents and assured them that the culprits would soon be brought to justice.

Currently, Goldy Brar, a native of Sri Muktsar Sahib, is believed to be residing in Canada, where he has gone in 2017 on a student visa. He is an active member of Lawrence Bishnoi gang, and is said to be the mastermind behind Moosewala’s killing. Brar had claimed the responsibility of murdering the renowned Punjabi singer on the day of his killing.

As Brar was also wanted in several other cases, the Punjab police had sent the proposal to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to issue Red Corner notice against him on May 19 — ten days before Moosewala’s killing. The proposal was sent on the basis of two cases — one dated November 12, 2020; and another of February 18, 2021.

Visibly irate over the massive support to Moosewala and projecting him as a martyr, Brar said: “He’s not a martyr....Just to match the macho image he had created for himself through his songs, he committed many mistakes for which he was punished...We waited for the Indian justice system to deliver, but it did not. We realised that law is only for the commoners, and not for bigwigs like stars, leaders, their friends. When the high and mighty commit crimes, they get away with them; but commoners like us are punished right away.”

“We had no option but to kill him and take revenge by picking the weapons. God knows if we were right or wrong. We bow before Him. We will accept His justice, not of this world. He knows why we did what we did,” he said, while making it clear that none of them have any regrets of killing Moosewala.

Lashing out at the people who are supporting Moosewala after his death, Brar said: “People have got swayed by the emotional videos by Moosewala’s parents and his funeral. But Moosewala caused similar pain to many others. This never became public because only the suffering of powerful people gets noticed and is publicised, not that of the common man like us. We saw such funerals in our house, and his name figured in all of those. Will you tolerate the killer of your brothers roaming around freely, in VIP security? What would you have done if you were in our place? On top of that, he constantly provoked us through his songs.”

“WHY MOOSEWALA JOINED PARTY THAT INTRODUCED SYL”

Brar went on to add that considering the Moosewala’s standing in the society, he should have used his influence to help Punjab on many issues. “True Sikhs spend their lives in jail for a cause but not those who become opportunist politicians. Look at the character first. He sang a song on the SYL. It was a good song but have you wondered why he joined the party (Congress) which had introduced the SYL project (Sutlej-Yamuna Link canal between Punjab, Haryana and Delhi),” he asked.  He further asserted if Moosewala had ever raised the SYL issue with the party, or the issue of theft of Punjab’s waters with anyone.

MOOSEWALA HOLDING AKHARA WHEN DEEP SIDHU WAS BEING CREMATED

Brar claimed that Moosewala was holding akhara (an event) when actor and social activist Deep Sidhu was being cremated. “He was singing and dancing on a stage in an akhara elsewhere and carried on with the function. And now, people are carrying his pictures with Deep Sidhu...People have such a short memory. They forget things easily,” he added.

MOOSEWALA EULOGISED AMERICAN RAPPER TUPAC

Further talking about Moosewala eulogising American rapper Tupac Shakur and emulating his style, Brar said that Tupac never sought or took police security or roamed around with politicians while he was pleading so many politicians for getting security cover.  Interestingly, Moosewala, in his last song ‘The Last Ride’, had compared his life and style with Tupac saying that he, too, would die young like Tupac. Tupac was assassinated in 1996, and his killers have yet not been identified. The song was released about a fortnight before his murder.

“MAKING NO THREAT CALLS”

Brar also clarified that he or any of his gang members was neither sending any “threat” letters nor making any “threat” calls to anyone. “We didn't ask for any ransom. People complain to the police. We ask ransom only from the one who robbed the people...who have crores in his bank,” he said, clearing air over the complaints by politician, and businessmen claiming that they were receiving ransom calls from Goldy Brar.

“CARRIED OUT TYTLER’s RECCE DURING COLLEGE DAYS”

Brar said that he had stayed with Lawrence Bishnoi during his school-college days. “When a case was registered against us during college time, we fled to Delhi. In those days, we used to carry out Jagdish Tytler’s recee with an aim to kill him. We understood the community’s pain,” he added.
