Yadwinder Singh Buttar, a close aide of the People’s Party of Punjab (PPP) president Manpreet Singh Badal, on Sunday jumped out of his sinking ship to join the Bharatiya Janata Party, which riding high on the success wave.
Buttar, the general secretary of the People’s Party of Punjab, has joined the saffron brigade along with his more than 100 supporters in the presence of the State BJP chief Kamal Sharma and party’s national secretary Tarun Chugh during an ongoing workshop.
Being an active and a one of the few senior leader in the PPP, Buttar’s decision to leave PPP and join BJP has given a major setback to the PPP, especially party president Manpreet.
Buttar, also a Chief Patron of PPP’s youth wing, was the party’s candidate from Batala assembly constituency. Before joining PPP, he was with the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD).
