Days after Haryanvi singer Harshita Dahiya was shot dead by unknown assailants at Chamrara village in Haryana’s Panipat district, Haryana Police has claimed that her brother-in-law has admitted his involvement in the murder during interrogation.

Harshita was killed on the direction of her brother-in-law and notorious gangster Dinesh Karala. Dinesh has revealed the murder conspiracy during interrogation after he was brought from Jhajjar jail on a production warrant, said Superintendent of Police Rahul Sharma  while talking to the mediapersons.

Karala was produced before a court, which sent him to four-day police remand. The accused had revealed the names of his four accomplices who killed Harshita but they cannot be disclosed at the moment, SP said, adding that police teams are raiding various places to nab the four men.

He added Dinesh was a notorious gangster. Twelve criminal cases have been registered against him at various police stations in Sonepat, Jind, Jhajjar and Delhi.

The 22-year-old Haryanvi singer was shot dead on Tuesday by unidentified assailants when she was on her way back to home in a car after completing performance at a function in village Chamrara. Harshita was living in Narela in Delhi. Seven to eight bullet injury marks were found during the postmortem of Harshita’s body.

Her sister lata had earlier said, “Dinesh, my husband” was behind the killing. “He got her killed because she was a witness in the murder case of their mother,” she had claimed.

According to the police, Dahiya’s brother-in-law has been charged with the murder of her mother. Her mother was killed in 2014 in Delhi and the singer was the prime witness in the case.

On October 12, Harshita had recorded a live video on Facebook claiming that she was being threatened by some artists from Haryana industry. Harshita was known for her Haryanvi ‘Ragini’ songs and was also a dancer.
