Taking suo motu cognizance of reports about the bodies of a couple found in two trunks in Haryana’s Sonepat district, Haryana Human Rights Commission (HHRC) on Tuesday issued a notice to Haryana Director General of Police to have the culprits before the Court of law without any delay.

The HHRC has sought a report on the case from Haryana DGP within 10 days

“The Commission take serious cognizance of the reports published in newspapers and electronic media about the bodies of a couple found in two trunks near Sonepat. The condition of the body which was naked and one with amputated legs shows gruesome, abhorrent and uncivilised behaviour of the persons who have committed such act. It shocks the conscious of the society,” said the HHRC order issued on Tuesday.

In a suspected case of honour killing, bodies of a young couple were found stuffed in separate trunks near Tau Devi lal Park on national highway no 1 in Murthal area of Sonepat district of Haryana on Monday morning.

The two trunks were discovered by morning walkers. Since both the boxes were locked and new, the visitors immediately informed the local guard and police was subsequently called in. The bodies were found close to the NH-1 which borders Delhi and UP.
