Govt should take action against schools that illegally collect money from parents: Hooda
Chandigarh: Former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Thursday alleged that the state government is responsible for the arbitrariness of private schools who are leaving no stone unturned to extract the last penny from parents. He further said that many complaints are coming from parents across the state, who say the school management is collecting various types of illegal fees from them. Not only this, they are also being charged many times more money in the name of books. The school management puts pressure on parents to buy books only from some selected shops. Those shopkeepers are charging up to 6 times more rate from the parents. Parents say that NCERT books usually come for Rs 650. But about Rs 4000 are being charged from them for these books. Apart from this, additional books worth Rs 2500 to Rs 3000 have to be purchased. Hooda said that the BJP government of the state should take action against the arbitrariness of private schools.
