Brar open to go along with like minded political forces

Just a fortnight after he was expelled from the Congress for his anti-party activities, senior leader and Ex-Congress MP Jagmeet Singh Brar on Wednesday said he had his options open for joining hands with other political parties.

Indicating at the options he was looking at, Brar said that Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Bahujan Samajwadi Party and the left were the parties, which he thought were following the political vision that was required for Punjab.

Announcing his team for organising the already announced political rally on May 21 to be held at Chapparchiri, Brar said that the rally would be an attempt to bring the focus of the state on the five critical issues that the people of the state really wanted from the political parties to be addressed at the first instance.

Accompanying three ex-MlAs Dr. Harbans lal, Vijay Sathi and his brother Ripjit Singh Brar, the expelled Congress leader said that rally would be organized to provide a platform to the youth to raise their voice on the core issues that are posing a threat to the state. He said that students from 5 universities would be selected to present an issue, to be taken up with the political contenders for the next assembly elections.

Mincing no words, Brar said that he had his options open for joining any other political party. Contrary to the general perception of Brar joining hands with AAP, the veteran politician said that his objective was to fight against nepotism and he would like to join forces with like minded parties to achieve this.

The assertion comes at a time, when speculation is rife that Brar’s efforts to join AAP have not met a favorable response from the party leadership. His declaration of joining hands with any of the parties is being seen as an indication to AAP to accept him.

Once again hitting hard at PPCC chief Captain Amarinder Singh, Brar said that after the Chapperchiri rally, Congress will be relegated to fourth place in the political arena in the state.

Appreciating the policy of Arvind Kejriwal led Delhi government, Brar said that giving a 20 thousand compensation to the villages of 235 villages in Delhi was a praiseworthy move of the Kejriwal government.

Brar also made it clear that Prashant Kishore had tried to prevail upon him to accept Capt. Amarinder Singh as the Chief Ministerial candidate for Congress, and this was the only point of discord between him and Prashant Kishore. Reiterating his goodwill for the Congress high command, he said that he had nothing against Congress President Sonia Gandhi or Vice President Rahul Gandhi, but he could not cope with Capt. Amarinder, who had brought the party to third position by accommodating SAD at different occasions.

To be a disappointment for the Congress, the Brar supporters claimed that 7 councillors from Chamkaur Sahib, the Assembly seat of Congress legislative party Chief Charanjeet Singh Channi, were present on the side of Brar, while he addressed the media in Chandigarh.
