Booth strong, party strong: Pb BJP exhorts party workers

Less than a week after the SAD-BJP combine’s not-so-impressive performance during the just-concluded Zila Parishad and Block Samiti polls in Punjab, the saffron brigade on Thursday gave its party cadre a new slogan of ‘booth strong, party strong’.

The slogan, aimed at strengthening the party at the grassroot or the booth level, came over three months after the BJP national president Amit Shah had asked the party’s Punjab unit to strengthen the party at all levels, including districts, mandals, and booths, during his state visit in June.

Punjab BJP president Shwait Malik, while addressing a well-attended meeting of the executive committee members, district presidents, morcha presidents and senior leaders, asked the workers to connect more and more people with the party so that BJP could become stronger and win all elections with high margin.

“Workers should work hard to make the party strong at booth level because if booth is strong, the party will be strong,” said Malik.

In chorus, BJP’s national general secretary (organisation) Ram Lal gave some suggestions to the workers of making the party strong while directing them to allot five booths each to mandal level and the morcha’s office bearers.

“If booth will be strong, the party will become strong,” he reiterated while directing the workers to appoint booth in-charges, besides constituting of booth samitis, and holding booth level meetings.

He also directed the workers to take the achievements of Narendra Modi led Central Government to every house of the state.

Supporting the same, BJP state affairs in-charge Parbhat Jha also asked the workers to reach out to every house and every person of the state to make them aware about the Modi Government’s achievements in the past four years.

“This would make the party’s base strong in the State, and it would surely help it in winning all elections with high margin and again BJP would become party in power,” he added.

The meeting was held to review the current political situation of Punjab vis-à-vis party’s position, along with the ensuing Lok Sabha Elections in 2019. Among others, the meeting was attended by the Union Minister Vijay Sampla, BJP national secretary Tarun Chugh, former Minister Manoranjan Kalia, former president Kamal Sharma.

During the meeting, the work done by the party workers and the district presidents was reviewed in detail. Extensive discussion on the party’s current political situation in Punjab was also held.

During the meeting, several resolutions were also passed — mainly aimed at making the party strong, including ‘Sampark Se Samarthan’.

For the same purpose, the party leadership also gave responsibilities to its media and social media teams to take party’s vision and Centre’s achievements and schemes to every household.

“BJP has brought many schemes for public like good facility for irrigation, development of infrastructure in villages, Kisan Credit Card, Land Health Card etc, said Malik.

Malik said that the Prime Minister has  launched another scheme ‘Ayushman Bharat — PM Jan Arogya Yojna’ under which up to 50 crore people will get benefits up to Rs five lakhs free medical treatment.

“But, with the inadequacy of Congress-led Punjab Government, many poor people of the state will miss this scheme,” he said.

He asked the Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh to wake up and think about the people of the state, instead of playing politics, and include Punjab under this scheme so that poor people could also get these benefits.

The meeting also condemned the conduct of elections to Panchayati Raj Institutions saying that the Congress Government has “murdered the democracy”. “Before these elections, the Congress Government had misused the official machinery in municipal elections too,” he added.
