The body of a 55-year-old senior official of HMT ltd was found inside its factory complex at Pinjore in Haryana.
Kanwaljit Singh Nagi, a joint general manager at HMT's tractor unit, was found dead near a water tank close to the stores department this morning, said Police.
Workers claimed Nagi might have committed suicide due to the non-payment of salaries for the last 20 months.
Mohinder Singh, HMT Karmik Sangh president said that staff at the Pinjore unit of HMT have not been paid their salaries for the last 20 months.
HMT workers have planned a march to the Haryana Assembly on Tuesday to press their demand for the revival of the factory and clearance of their salary arrears.
In December 2015, the Centre had expressed its inability to run the iconic public sector undertaking, which is located some 25km away from Chandigarh.
