BJP's morale high; 5 Cong, INlD leaders join party

With the Assembly elections round the corner, the BJP has got a boost on Friday with five leaders from the Congress and the INlD joining the party here.

Former Congress MlA from Samalkha, Bharat Singh Chhoker, Sudhir Godara, grandson of former Haryana Home Minister and veteran Congress leaders late Mani Ram Godara and Neelam Bhagwaria, daughter of former Cooperation Minister, Shakuntla Bhagwaria from Bhawal joined the BJP. Besides, Randhir Singh Saini, brother of former Minister of INlD Balbir Singh Saini from Kurukshetra and former IAS officer Rajiv Sharma, also joined the BJP.

State BJP President Ram Bilas Sharma said the party is ready for Assembly elections and it will expose the Bhupinder Singh Hooda Government right from the booth level in all the 90 Assembly constituencies."A lot of people are showing interest in BJP after the thumping victory of the party in the recent lok Sabha elections in which we won seven of the nine seats contested, said Anil Vij, BJP legislature.party leader.

Sharma has also constituted a five-member advisory committee to get information about the new entrants in BJP. The members of advisory committee include Union Minister of State Krishan Pal Gurjar, MP Rattan lal Kataria, former State BJP presidents Ganeshi lal and Atam Prakash Manchanda and BJP legislator Anil Vij. The BJP expects an exodus from other political parties ahead of the assembly polls scheduled in October.

Ganeshi lal, claimed that several senior and junior leaders of ruling congress, INlD and Haryana Janhit Congress are keen to adopt the ideology of the saffron party. “Next week another big announcement of leaders joining BJP would be made”, added lal.

Even in the last lok Sabha elections, leaders from Congress joined BJP and got elected from the saffron party. Gurgaon MP Rao Inderjit Singh, former CPS Dharambir Singh from Bhiwani-Mahendragarh and former senior leader of congress party Ramesh Chander Kaushik in Sonepat switched their loyalties to BJP and won the polls.

As BJP had little presence in Haryana before the lok Sabha polls, it is working at a plan to project itself as it wants at the grassroots by becoming an attractive political outfit and a winning combination.Despite its success in the parliamentary polls, BJP is confused whether to go it alone in the assembly polls or stick to its ally Haryana Janhit Congress. leaders of both the parties have been hurling barbs at each other in recent weeks.

The HJC and its president Kuldeep Bishnoi, whom the BJP leadership had earlier projected as the future chief minister of the BJP-HJC alliance, knows that the BJP is not inclined to oblige him now. The HJC fared poorly in the lok Sabha polls with Bishnoi losing his Hisar seat. He and the HJC are confused whether or not to dump the BJP and go it alone.
