Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate from Rohtak lok Sabha seat, Om Prakash Dhankhar has lodged a complaint with the Election Commission of India (ECI) wherein he has demanded investigation into undelivered postal ballots for Army personnel.
He has also sought action against the official concerned responsible for the undelivered ballots.
Dhankhar in the complaint said he came to know that 7,000 out of 26,000 postal ballots for army personnel hailing from Rohtak seat had so far returned undelivered due to erroneous database prepared by official concerned resulting in refraining the army personnel from exercising
their franchise.
“It is learnt that the date base of service voters was prepared in a perfunctory and most casual manner leading to many errors in their addresses. The postal ballots were perhaps sent through civil postal service instead of army postal service,” said Dhankhar.
Demanding de-sealing of all the undelivered envelopes containing the postal ballots, the BJP candidate said he should be given a chance to witness the whole process of service voters and wrongful dispatch of the ballots.
He also sought setting up a task force to suggest systemic improvements to ensure exercising of voting rights by all military and non-military personnel across the country.
