BJP women's cell takes out 'Shav Yatra'

In the wake of the rape incident of a five-year old child in Delhi, the Women Cell of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday took out a 'Shav Yatra' (funeral procession) with a mock 'body' representing Congress led UPA Government here.

The protesters, led by Pratibha Suman, State chief of the cell, burnt the "mock body" of the UPA Government at Ambedkar Chowk outside district office of Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC).

Earlier, addressing the protesters, Suman said that the Congress-led Centre as well as the State Governments governed by Congress had entirely failed in checking crime against women despite occurrence of a series of rape incidents.

“Women are feeling insecure off late as a result of a sharp rise in crimes against women during last few months. The situation has worsened to the extent that women are frightened to get out of their houses even for domestic works,” she said, adding that despite all happenings, the Central as well as State Governments were keeping mum on the issue of women security.

Suman maintained that neither of the two Governments were taking steps to check crime against women nor pondering over to enact a stringent law for capital punishment to the rapists.

She demanded that the rapists should be punished at the earliest so that no other one can dare to rape any girl or woman.
