BJP welcomes CBI's move against Bansal

Chandigarh BJP has welcomed the decision of CBI forwarding a chargesheet against Chandigarh MP and former Railway Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal to the CBI Director of Prosecution for seeking permission from the lok Sabha speaker to officially charge him.

BJP state president Sanjay Tandon and former Union minister Harmohan Dhawan in a joint statement said that this was a vindication of the stand taken by the BJP all along. They added that BJP had been in the forefront exposing the corrupt ways of Bansal but under pressure from the ruling UPA no action had been taken.

However, now that like the rivers of the country, the water of corruption crossed all previous levels there is no option but to prosecute him and save the country. They added that investigations against Bansal should be carried out in all the other scams also. The tenure of Bansal has been most corrupt ever and while filling up his personal coffers he has completely ignored the interests of the city. There have been no new schemes that he has brought, no thought spared for the city residents and nothing done for the youth of the city.

The party demanded that the request for permission to charge Bansal be moved immediately to the Speaker and he should give this permission instantly. The people of the city are keen that the person who has brought shame to the city and its residents be punished so that the citizens of Chandigarh can once again hold their head high. Bansal should tender an unconditional apology to the city for having sullied its name and resign from the membership of the lok Sabha, where he longer has any moral right to be, they added.
