BJP tolerated indiscipline of Sidhu couple for too long: Sampla

A day after Dr Navjot Kaur Sidhu quit the BJP, party’s Punjab unit president and the Union Minister Vijay Sampla on Sunday said that the party, in fact, “tolerated the undisciplined Sidhu couple for too long which wasn’t required”.

Sampla, reacting to Dr Sidhu’s remark that she felt ‘suffocated’ in BJP and thus resigned, said: “BJP accommodated and respected Sidhu couple as much as it was possible for us. In fact, I think it got too stretched and we even tolerated their indiscipline for too long which wasn’t our obligation.”

“Everyone today knows and will agree with the fact that they never felt suffocated in BJP. She continued speaking against the party even being a part of it. I do not think someone can show this level of patience which BJP showed,” he said.

“She expressed her opinion freely always. She never minced her words or was asked to do so. So if this is suffocation, then we do not know what freedom is. I think we gave them all the due respect and even more than what they deserved. Rest it was their call to resign from the party,” said Sampla while talking to the media on the sidelines of an event in ludhiana.
