BJP is in no mood to let go of the issue of Railway Board Bribery scam and is all set to capitalise on the issue. The party has directed its local unit to step up its attack against Union Railway Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal and send all the reports regarding ongoing political turmoil in Chandigarh.

While directing the local BJP leaders to bolster their campaign against corruption and embattled Chandigarh MP Bansal, the national BJP has sought all the reports of ongoing activities including party’s protests, information on Bansal’s family business, revelations by local BJP into Bansal family’s property details, new political developments in the city among others.

The national leaders have asked the local party president Sanjay Tandon to intensify the campaign against Bansal and apprise them regularly about party’s ongoing protest activities against the local MP across the city.

The political storm raised after the arrest of Bansal’s nephew Vijay Singla, has provided the opposition with welcome ammo to launch a scathing attack on the local MP and his family.

At present, the local BJP is organising protest demonstrations everyday across the city demanding the resignation of the local MP.

To mount pressure on the Union Minister to resign following his alleged role in Railway Board Bribery scam, the BJP has also started a signature campaign in Chandigarh. And, the party has managed to get over 3000 signatures of denizens from across the city demanding Bansal’s resignation. Besides covering key city’s markets, the BJP is also reaching out to the public in various sectors seeking their support in the campaign against local MP.

Also, the local unit of party is actively making use of social networking platforms like Facebook, Twitter and YouTube to take their campaign against Bansal to the large number of people. Right from day-to-day happenings to the information on protest rallies, pictures, videos among others, everything is made available on the official online pages of the party and BJP leaders.

In the past one week, continuing their mission to dig up dirt on Bansal and his family members, the local BJP leaders have also produced several documents, pictures, videos against Bansal and his family alleging unethical rise of Bansal’s family business and its close links with Vijay Singla.

To further step up its agitation against Bansal, the bigwigs of BJP are also likely to join the party’s local unit in the coming days. After the visit of BJP national spokesperson and MP Prakash Javadekar, Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) president and MP Anurag Thakur, more national leaders are likely to visit the city intending to strengthen the party’s protest here.

While talking to The Pioneer, Chandigarh BJP president Sanjay Tandon said, “The national leaders have sought the reports of ongoing activities including party’s protest demonstration, party’s strategy among others. We have already sent them the reports of last four days. We are in talks with the national BJP leaders and we apprize them about the day-to-day happening in the city. Also, more national leaders are likely to join party’s protest against Bansal here in the coming days,” he said.

The local BJP chief added, “Bansal’s resignation from the seat is already been demanded by the BJP and we would continue to carry out our signature campaign against him till he resigns. The Rail Board Bribery Scam is a serious issue and involvement of Cabinet Minister’s and his relatives should not be overlooked.”
