In an innovative step to cultivate emotional attachment among the masses, State BJP has decided to collect soil from prominent religious places (Dev Sthal) situated across the State for party’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi’s dream project of Statue of Unity.
Statue of Unity, a concept conceived by Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi will be world’s tallest statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel situated in the middle of Narmada Dam at Gujarat. Patel hailed from the family of farmers and for this reason, Modi had appealed to all the farmers of the country to donate an iron tool used for the purpose of farming for construction of the statue, which will be made of iron. Soil will also be collected from all villages and panchayats across the country, which will be kept in a museum at the statue site to highlight the contribution of different villages.
The BJP Himachal Pradesh unit is taking a step ahead in the initiative and has customised the wish of party’s prime ministerial candidate. The party decided that soil from all famous religious temple sites will be collected and sent to Gujarat where it will be kept at the museum with the marking of temple. “Our party workers will visit every household of the State and collect an iron farming tool and soil sample from each villages from December 15 to January 26 and the material will be sent to Gujarat for the construction of Statue of Unity,” said Jai Ram Thakur, convener of the Statue of Unity initiative in the State.
Thakur said that since Himachal Pradesh was called Dev Bhoomi (land of Gods), soil samples will be collected from all important religious sites in the state and will be sent to Gujarat, where it will be displayed as contribution from the State. He also appealed to the party workers of Congress to rise above from the party line and participate in the initiative which he termed as an initiative of national pride. “They should not think Patel as a Congressman but a national leader and commemorate his efforts in national integration,” said Thakur.
