After staging the first ever boycott of the budget, Opposition BJP in Himachal Pradesh has now decided not to participate in the budget debate to register their protest against the humiliating ‘bonded labourer’ remarks of Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh on party MlAs.
Budget debate will start from Monday and would continue till Wednesday. It will be passed on February 19. Opposition BJP has also boycotted the debate on vote of thanks motion of Governor address. The BJP’s general secretary and MlA Randhir Sharma on Saturday announced that party had taken a tough stand and decided that MlAs would not participate in the Budget debate. “We have boycotted the budget speech and also will not participate in budget debate in wake of humiliating remarks of Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh on party legislators,” said Sharma.
He said that Chief Minister has been humiliating the party MlAs by not only making derogatory statements outside the House but also in the House which was seen during the vote of thanks motion on Governor speech. “It is only after Chief Minister issues public apology for the humiliating remarks that opposition would participate in the proceedings of the House,” said Sharma. Virbhadra Singh has denied making any such statements on the floor of House.
