BJP to assure quality water supply in city

In an attempt to cash on acute water shortage in Shimla, BJP on Monday said that providing quality drinking water throughout the city would be the first priority of party, if it comes to power in Municipal Corporation.
lashing out at Congress and CPM for poor civic facilities in the capital of the state, BJP spokesperson Rajiv Bindal on Monday said that Congress and CPM had been dominating the civic body of Shimla for last 32 years, but could not ensure proper supply of quality drinking water to the city residents.
Bindal said that the party was not fighting the MC elections on its party symbol but it party would support all its candidates, as the party had already announced its official candidates.
He said that people in Shimla had suffered frequent outbreaks of Jaundice, just due to poor quality of water in the capital town. He said that 18 people lost their lives due to jaundice in the last 5 years, but still no effective steps had been taken to ensure quality water to the residents of this city.
As water supply and parking are going to be two big issues in the Municipal Corporation elections, BJP is making all efforts to corner the ruling Congress on both these issues. Being in opposition in the state government and not in a significant position in Municipal Corporation, BJP is looking to grab the corporation this time, being in fairly strong political grounds nationally. The saffron party got a boost after the rally of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Shimla.
