The Chandigarh BJP on Monday submitted a memorandum to the UT Administration putting forth various demands of city residents.

In a meeting with KK Sharma, Adviser to UT Administrator, city BJP chief Sanjay Tandon raised the issue of the transfer of the ownership to the residents of Chandigarh Housing Board who have been residing there for years. Almost 80 per cent had been transferred but after 2006 such transfers were stopped for some reason. The Administration should reconsider this position and shall allow the residents to transfer the ownership on the names of occupants,” demanded BJP

The party also mentioned about the recent notices to the local businessmen where they were charged with a fine of Rs500 per square feet per month which seemed absolutely inappropriate. Also, the UT Electricity Department increased the security deposit for commercial purposes.

The party delegation said that the business community is already suffering from bad market conditions and these recent developments are adding to their agony.

The BJP demanded that the UT Electricity Department should adjust the security amount from the initial security paid. The BJP delegation also raised the issues of city’s rural areas before Advisor KK Sharma.  They said that the godowns in the villages are closing down as they are not being provided with a Sales Tax number.

The delegation also put forth the issues of licenses of street hawkers. It has been about 12 years since they were issued any license. The Administration should immediately work on issuing licenses to these hawkers, stated the party.
